The Open University of the Netherlands (OUNL) has awarded a tender for the "further deployment and commercialisation" of Edubox, its EML rendering software, to Perot Systems.

The Edubox player converts "units of study" written using OUNL's Educational Modelling Language(EML) for integration with learning management systems or for ouput as printed material.

According to the OUNL website, "Perot Systems turned out to be the best candidate for the task. There was a preference for Perot Systems because of their international level of operation, their engagement to invest in the further development and commercialisation of Edubox."

Perot Systems will be responsible for developing Edubox further in conjunction with the OUNL; they are also deploying the system internally for their own training purposes. It is also likely that Edubox will be developed into a commercial application sometime next year.
