New SCORM release will incorporate IMS specifications

The Advanced Distributed Learning Network (ADL) is due to release a new version of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) in the next few weeks.

Among other changes, version 1.2 of SCORM will incorporate the version 1.1.2 of the IMS Content Packaging specification, and IMS Metadata version 1.2.

The new release marks a convergence of IMS and ADL specifications, and it is likely that we will see further co-operation between the two organisations. In particular, IMS has indicated it will not duplicate the work of ADL in the development of runtime behaviours.
