Questionmark have announced that their Perception assessment product is now compliant with version 1.2 of the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM).

The new SCORM capability is provided through a set of downloadable add-ins that allows Perception assessments to be deployed as Sharable Content Objects (SCOs) in a SCORM-compliant Learning Management System (LMS).

This means that Perception assessments can be launched from the LMS as SCOs and return information about performance; whether this is a sensible means for delivering assessments is entirely another matter - the documentation notes that scores are passed from the learner's browser to the LMS, with the possible risk of candidates altering their scores.

However, it may be useful for Perception users who want to deploy formative assessments on LMS platforms that do not support the IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) specification.

The set of files required, and instructions for using SCORM with Perception, are available on the Questionmark website.
