IMS release updated Enterprise specification

The IMS Global Learning Consortium have released version 1.1 of the Enterprise specification.

The new version, which is fully backwards-compatible with previous versions, includes a support for a number of extensions used by WebCT, Blackboard and other Enterprise implementations. Enterprise 1.1 also provides support for transmitting encrypted passwords.

IMS Enterprise provides a specification for sharing information about learners and groups (courses) between systems within institutions, including learning management systems and student record systems.

Documentation for the new version is available from the IMS website.
