DCMI release new XML Schema proposal for Dublin Core metadata specification

July 26, 2002

The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) have released a proposed new XML Schema for Qualified Dublin Core metadata.

According to Carl Lagoze, one of the group producing the proposal, the "continued absence of such solid guidelines on how to deploy qualified Dublin Core has interfered with the interoperability goals of DCMI."

An XML Schema binding of unqualified Dublin Core metadata had been released by DCMI previously, but this is the first XMLS Schema for qualified Dublin Core.

The full proposal is available from the UKOLN website, and a discussion forum is also available.
