learning object
Equivalences: learning object (2)
Used by:
Contributed by: Jenny Slater

An object which has a specified educational purpose or context.

Any object can have the potential to be used in learning and teaching activities, but in order to be described as a learning object, it ought to have at least one specified educational purpose or context.

The term "learning resource" is used by IMS, while "learning object" is used by IEEE. The meaning of these terms appears to be the same, though, since they are described using such similar metadata.
