Three-day conference on web-based learning in Sweden, stressing e-Learning in a life-long learning, continuous education and vocational training perspective. One of the four conference themes is standardisation and harmonisation, and looks like it will contain some interesting material on standards.

"E-Learning has reached a relatively high level of maturity and as a result, many providers and participants have gained a great deal of experience. It is time to take another step further and learn from these experiences to make the present provision even better, to start new directions, which conceptually can belong to the next generation, and to implement e-Learning in its rightful context (globalisation, co-operation, harmonisation of systems, etc).

"There are different stakeholders involved in e-Learning who have different interests and who are also affected by it in different ways; students, lecturers, institutions, contractors of systems, etc. The conference will stress four main themes; Awareness/Acceptance, Standardisation/Harmonisation, Convergence of e-Learning and Campus-learning, and Evaluation/Assessment. All four themes will be elucidated from the different actorsí points of view.

"The conference will allow scope to present experiences, conclusions, concrete solutions, but also visions for the future and next generation.

"The conference will also provide a unique opportunity for dialogue and synergy between academics and professionals from different backgrounds with a common interest in web-based learning and training."
