Universities UK: CETIS Profiles group present UK HE Transcript Scott Wilson, CETIS staff
November 30, 2001
A major consultative conference on implementing the HE transcript is being held at Universities UK on 30 November 2001. The CETIS Profiles group will present a Consultative Document mapping the UK HE Transcript against the IMS Learner Information Profile specification.
The CETIS Profiles SIG is working with the national bodies representing UK Higher Education in order to identify the demands of the policy frameworks and the common themes which underlie best practice for the UK HE transcript and for personal development planning / recording (PDP/R).
As the basis for the exchange of transcript information between learning and student record systems it has developed a Consultative Document, mapping the UK HE Transcript element of the Progress File against the IMS LIP specification and proposing the extensions required to support both the Transcript and the European Diploma Supplement.
This consultative document will be presented at the conference and will include:
A formal mapping of the Transcript against the European Diploma Supplement and the Individual Learner Record used by FE
A formal mapping of these documents against the IMS LIP specification for technical interoperability
A proposed technical specification for the exchange of the Transcript information students and tutors need between IT systems
The event is intended to bring together:
Academic and computing staff developing Managed Learning Environments
Vendors providing student record and MLE software to meet user needs
Senior staff concerned with the role of the Transcript and the Progress File within institutional learning and teaching strategies
Administrative and computing staff responsible for developing student record systems to provide support
