Using Information Technology in support of Personal Development Planning
A major conference on PDP and IT, co-organised by Thames Valley University, Oxford Brookes University and The Centre for Recording Achievement.
Despite massive use of IT in supporting learning and teaching and in university administration, there are questions about how useful and appropriate it is for supporting activities associated with PDP.
There will be many in the HE sector, currently working on structures and procedures to implement PDP, who are interested in examining these questions in more depth. This conference seeks to bring together a variety of systems developed in diverse contexts, together with an impressive range and depth of experience, to help in doing just that.
We particularly wish to invite teams from HEIs or project consortia representing the different areas of expertise that need to work together in considering the use of IT in relation to PDP e.g. Management Information Systems, Academic Registry, Curriculum Development, Staff Development, Careers Centres.
As this is a dissemination conference for the Oxford Brookes/Thames Valley FDTL Phase 3 project on Progress Files, there is no charge for attendance. These two institutions will be joined by other universities offering you an opportunity to examine their approaches to using IT to support PDP. It is anticipated that the systems participating will include:
- LUSID - Liverpool
- PESCA - Exeter
- RAPID - Loughborough
- e-PARS - Nottingham
- MATRIX - East Anglia
