Venue: Ty'n Rhos Country House, Seion, nr. Caernarfon,
North Wales.

Registration form.

Agenda

Vashti Zarach, SIG Coordinator, will give an introduction and update.

Michael Aherne of Reid Kerr College (a Scottish FE college) will be talking about developing a standard for course identifiers.

Jon Rowett of Brockenhurst College (an FE college from the New Forest in England) will be giving an update on Emily, the MLE at Brockenhurst. Jon gave a presentation on Emily at an earlier SIG meeting, which Brockenhurst hosted.

We also have reports from the JISC SHELL and NIIMLE Projects, which were funded by Phase 1 of the MLEs for Lifelong Learning Programme to build cross-institutional MLEs. NIIMLE is based in Northern Ireland, and SHELL in South-West England.

Greg McClure and Davey O’Hare from the NIIMLE Project (Northern Ireland Integrated Managed Learning Environment) will be reporting on the NIIMLE Project. Areas covered will include the background to the project, technical architecture (including Enterprise Web Services), experiences using Enterprise Web Services, uPortal, and general experiences and issues.

Terry Rourke and Dave Croot from the SHELL Project will
also be presenting. Terry will talk about the use of ioNodes for data transport, and Dave will be
talking about transferring learner records between PDP systems.
