Bodington Buzz: Introduction to the Bodington VLE System
With the growing interest in open source solutions for Virtual Learning Environments, we would like to invite you to a free one-day seminar demonstrating the Bodington Open Source VLE system.
Bodington was developed at the University of Leeds and is now being used by the University of Oxford, the University of the Highlands and Islands, the University of Manchester, and various FE colleges. It is an open source system, and entirely free to use, that is experiencing a considerable amount of development work.
The day will be hosted by the Learning Technologies Group at Oxford who are running the Bodington service locally. The talks and demonstrations are aimed at decision makers and potential users of the system who may be considering adopting or switching to an open source VLE.
Talks will include:
- Brief introduction to Bodington
- Choosing Bodington and rolling it out
- Future directions of Bodington
- The support community for Bodington
- Bodington development projects underway
- ePortfolios and log books in Bodington
- federated searching tools
- Shibboleth integration
- Bodington and the JISC E-learning Framework
- Using Bodington in the Medical Sciences
During the day you will get to see Bodington demonstrated and have a chance to ask questions about deploying it in a real time environment. The day will conclude with a roundtable discussion on the future directions of the Bodington community.
The day is free to attend and lunch will be provided, but you need to reserve a 'Boddington Buzz' seminar place.
