3rd Enterprise SIG Meeting
The 3rd CETIS Enterprise Special Interest Group Meeting was held on Wednesday 22nd October 2003 at South Cheshire College, an FE college in Crewe. The meeting was hosted by Nigel Peet, Director of ICT at South Cheshire College; who provided us with a comfortable meeting room in the College's Conference Centre, and a very tasty lunch.
24 people registered for the meeting, and 20 attended on the day.

1. The world of Enterprise

A quick overview of the Enterprise SIG, and relevant news and meetings.
2. Enterprise Web Services
(Powerpoint).
Scott Wilson, CETIS Assistant Director..
A technical presentation about the forthcoming Enterprise Web Services specification. The
Enterprise Specification outlines data formats for transferring data; but does not specify how
to transfer data. The Enterprise Web Services Specification aims to set up data transfer standards
for student enrolments. An IMS Working Group (including Scott Wilson) are currently working on the new
specification, which is due out in January.
3. E-Learning Framework and Tools

Tish Roberts, JISC Programme Manager (Joint Information Systems Committee)..
This presentation discusses a forthcoming programme from JISC; with the draft aim:
"To produce and test the use of a generic technical framework for e-learning systems which will
allow the FE/HE community to create MLE architectures to support their e-learning strategies, and
develop tools and interfaces where appropriate."
Delegates at the meeting were asked how they would like to participate in the programme. JISC
are keen to encourage involvement from the UK e-learning community.
