Joint Meeting of the JISC-CETIS Enterprise and Portfolio Special Interest Groups

The 14th Enterprise SIG meeting was held jointly with the JISC-CETIS Portofolio SIG on Tuesday 12th September, at the University of Manchester.

Introduction to the Day: (Helen Richardson, Portfolio SIG & Vashti Zarach, Enterprise SIG)

JISC e-Admin Call: Scott Wilson, CETIS Assistant Director

Linking Institutional & Personal Learning Domains: Colin Dalziel
The LIPID project distinguishes 2 types of learner data: institutional data (e.g. names, course memberships, grades, etc), & personal data (e.g. personal learning information held in ePortfolios). LIPID uses the toolkit to transfer institutional learner data from the student management system (SITS) to the ePortfolio system (PebblePad), enabling learners to access institutionally held (and approved) data to their personal learning systems for onward use in online CVs; applicational presentations; and career portfolios.

SUNIWE: Mark Stiles & Sam Rowley
SUNIWE is further developing the work done by the NIIMLE project, which developed an MLE linking all the universities and FE colleges in Northern Ireland. The SUNIWE project will be linking together colleges and universities in the West Midlands into a single portal, enabling single point access to learner and course data, eResources, VLEs and ePortfolios.

XCRI and Portfolios: Mark Stubbs, Simon Grant & Scott Wilson
The XCRI project (eXchanging Course Related Information) has been developing a standardised way of representing and exchanging information about courses. In this presentation, Mark, Simon and Scott will discuss the links between course information, learner information and portfolios in providing integrated learning experiences for students, e.g. using personal information stored in portfolios to assist learners searching for courses relevant to their interests and abilities.
