Architectural Issues in Managing Web Services in Connected Systems

I just came across this very comprehensive article in a series by Microsoft on managing services.

In my previous career in "big software for big companies" I would have found this a tremendously useful resource, as most of the information here is relevant to managing distributed connected systems generally rather than just for SOA and SOAP.

However it does make me somewhat concerned for our poor IS managers in education who are probably going to have to become experts in this type of analysis and system management, unless - as we discussed in the final session of the infrastructure strand at ALT-C - we change our conception of what an education IS department is there to provide and support.

Thanks to John for pointing to this series.
