What is Strand B of X4L about?

According to the JISC Circular, the Strand B projects of X4L focus on the "development of tools and management of records and processes leading to the creation of an architecture to support the programme", including:

  • The development of tools based upon appropriate standards and specifications (e.g. IMS, SCORM) to facilitate the creation of learning pathways and the assembly of learning objects and appropriate metadata.
  • The creation of a development bay for learning objects, for example a place where materials can be deposited and archived on a temporary basis during the lifetime of the programme with a view to their use within a service environment in the longer term.
